Susan Metts

Advancement Officer (KY, NC, TN, VA)

Susan Metts is the Mid-Atlantic Region Advancement Officer for the National Rifle Association. Before joining the NRA in 2014, Susan was with Meredith College, one of the top five women’s colleges in the country, for eight years where she served as Director of Strategic Giving.

Prior to that she was the Director of Development at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, D.C., and for 10 years worked as a fundraising consultant for a number of nonprofit organizations and institutions that included the U.S. Space Foundation, The Center for United States Studies at the University of London, and St. John’s College. Perhaps what she is proudest of, however, is having served in the Reagan Administration. Working for Bill Bennett and Lynne Cheney, Susan was Director of Public Affairs and then Assistant Chairman for Administration at the National Endowment for the Humanities. It was there that her appreciation for conservative values, love of country and our freedoms deepened.

Susan holds a BA from Meredith College and enjoys traveling (with a special fondness for Italy), hiking, shooting sporting clays, cooking and participating in her church.
